Dr. Liao is a technology entrepreneur and researcher in robotics, autonomous driving, and Physical AI. He received his Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of COOWA Technology, which integrates AI algorithms, software platforms, intelligent hardware, and manufacturing to develop robotic systems commercially deployed across dozens of cities. Dr. Liao holds more than 200 granted invention patents. His research has appeared in leading venues, including CVPR, AAAI, ACM Multimedia, and the IEEE journals TPAMI and TIP. His current research focuses on Agentic World Models, embodied intelligence, and AI-native robotic systems integrating foundation models, robot operating systems, and large-scale data infrastructure. His vision is to advance Physical AI from research prototypes to scalable systems that create real-world value.

Speech Title: Agentic World Models: The Foundation of Physical AI

Abstract:

Foundation models have advanced robotic perception, reasoning, and action, but real-world deployment requires robots to understand physical dynamics, human intentions, social rules, and task value. This report presents the concept of the Agentic World Model, a unified framework for enabling robots to perceive, reason, plan, and act as autonomous physical agents. Drawing on commercial deployments across dozens of cities, Dr. Liao will discuss how world models, foundation models, robotic systems, and data infrastructure can be integrated into a scalable Physical AI architecture. He will also share his perspective on the path from embodied intelligence to intelligent robots operating in everyday life and industrial production.
